Over the past few years I have spent a lot of time reading up on ghost stories, paranormal phenomenon, unexplained mysteries and urban legends and I am left with questions. There are a good deal of well written stories that make you really think if it could be true or a hoax, however, there are even more that are obviously a hoax, just written for fun and nothing else. After all my reading and research I find that most stories offer little evidence or have nothing to substantiate the story or claim which is hard to believe if you have your recording the event you should be able to get something that will silence any non believer. Some urban legends for example are so old that they have been retold so many times that it comes to the point when where it originated is forgotten and parts of the legend have been taken from different points in history. The best example of this is Bloody Mary. This is a timeless urban legend that some versions of the legend talk of the Queen of England, a witch from the time of the Salem witch trials and a poor woman who lost her child during a great war. Each of these versions have valid information that points to actual people in history that help validate the story but with any tale that is old they almost always become tall tales and get more and more exuberant with each telling. Obviously this urban legend is used as a fun sleep over bit of fun and those who have tried this know there is nothing to this story and its all in good fun.
The story of Elizabeth Bathory may sound like something straight out of a fictional horror story but it’s a real story that actually happened. Most people would say she was a vile and ruthless woman and the would definitely be right a quick search of Elizabeth Bathory you can read about her atrocities. I must warn you some of what you will read my disturb you as it was very horrific even for that time. In today’s time I would be hard pressed to believe that something like what she did could possibly happen.
Urban legends and Paranormal Phenomenon to me are nothing more than tall tales and there is always a logical and rational explanation for what happened even if you are unable to see it at the time the events took place. There are people out there who are naturally more likely to believe in something paranormal and those who are the opposite which ever you may be remember to look at everything with an open mind and easy going attitude, you may see more than you bargained for.
